Canary Square, which first opened in 2010, officially closed on Friday night, Nov. 18, according to a post from Boston's Restaurant Talk.
Customer Mark Swadling, who went to Canary on the restaurant's last night in business, said their closure was "surprise" on Facebook.
While the establishment did not formally explain their reason for closing, Swadling said the owner was "killing himself" to keep the doors open.
Posts from Canary's Facebook page also suggest the restaurant repeatedly experienced staffing issues and could not open on several occasions.
Some of Canary's popular dishes included their black bean burger, deviled eggs and French toast, according to Yelp reviews. The restaurant was located at 435 South Huntington Avenue.
